My General Maintenance Tips for a Clutter Free Home

I have been adding to this list for years, so I make no apology for the its length ! Most of it is common sense for sure, but who doesn't need a refresher every now and then?

I hope it helps.

  1. Be kind to yourself. We all need a little helping hand every now and then.

  2. Remember, the less you have or own the less you have to keep tidy and clean, simple!

  3. For every one thing you bring into your home, one thing has to leave, either via the charity shop or the bin.

  4. Less stuff, more room to relax and play.

  5. Don't shove unwanted items to the back of a cupboard, under the stairs or in the garage. get it out of the house immediately.

  6. Everything should have a home. This way you can find things quicker and easier.

  7. De-clutter before you re-organise. Don't be tempted to organise your clutter!

  8. The 5 second rule - if in doubt whether or not to keep something, hold the item for 5 seconds and if you can't remember the last time you used it, ditch it.

  9. To sell or not to sell, that is the question. Why not just donate? You get the feel good factor and it's out of the house quicker too.

  10. Stop creating piles, it's not a good look. Put stuff away as soon as you have finished with it.

  11. Talking about putting stuff away, try and store it in the room where you are most likely to use it. It will make putting stuff away easier and quicker.
